Hi! I'm Heather, international violinist, pedagogue, composer and your personal violin journey trainer. I coach adult violinists online how to play the violin ergonomically, simplify technique and create gorgeous tone.
All of Heather's exercises/books on violin technique are wonderful and extremely helpful. Beginners have a starting point and can learn a lot faster and advanced players also have a starting point for refreshing and upgrading their violin playing.
I highly recommend Heather's books/courses to every violinist!
As a private violin teacher, I started incorporating “Strengthening Exercises for First Position” in the studio curriculum for my middle school-aged students.
Upon implementation, their left hands became much stronger and more balanced between the index and fourth fingers.
With proper implementation, this book shapes a nice left hand. Not only does this book build the necessary strength for the first position, but it is also developing the strength needed for position work and vibrato. It's a great tool. A little bit goes a very long way as well.
This book is great for all levels of players, from beginners who read in first position through professional.
I've been a self taught violinist for 15 years. Most of the time I've spent on scales and some shradieck type exercises. Every time I tried to play a piece, it seemed to highlight a weakness in my technique, and back to exercises I went. I've been doing Heather's Strengthen First Position for several weeks, and today opened my Solos for Beginners book. I enjoy playing for the first time. I just easily sight read through several pieces and having fun playing. I highly recommend Heather's exercises and methods.
