Vivaldi Violin Concerto in a minor

This elegant and fun-to-play concerto is considered a rite of passage for violinists. Typically it is one of the first concertos a violinist will learn and has been popularized by its placement in Suzuki Books 4 and 5. Violinists generally emerge with a deeper and more developed skill set with a better understanding of playing musically once this concerto has been mastered.

The first and third movements appear in Suzuki Book 4, with the second movement in Book 5, but most violinists study the Concerto in A minor, whether with a traditional or Suzuki teacher.

A Repertoire MUST!

This little gem of a concerto is a must learn for all intermediate violinists. It is so beautiful to play, listen to and fun to learn. You will need to have some 3rd position knowledge to play this piece. Even if you are a 3rd position newbie that is OK too. You may even be inspired to learn 3rd position just to be able to study this endearing concerto.

In these video trainings, you get to study with me as if you were coming into my studio and we would work on this piece together. I give you the EXACT training that I have given to all of my violinists.

Public domain music has been provided within the course but I do teach from the Nachez edition which is used in the Suzuki books.

Having your own copy of the Suzuki books is highly recommended.

Course Curriculum

Why study from Heather Kaye:

Not only have I taught multiple Vivaldi works many times, but I have performed them as well as a soloist with the Gabrovo Chamber Orchestra in Bulgaria. To the right is the after-concert pic of me and my fellow soloists. I am in the middle.

It is my passion and pleasure to make difficult concepts and violin technique accessible to all violinists that I have a desire to learn.

"I learned SO much new information from just the first lesson! I especially like the fact that lesson 1 of the course starts with the hardest part. Since the hardest parts should be practiced most! I really like the idea. Very excited and I started applying some of the things I learned from that lesson to Humoresque from Suzuki Book 3 too. This course helped me with WAY more than just the Vivaldi concerto."
